<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Hello! It's been a while since I have posted anything on this blog, so I am thrilled to be here today sharing a fun project for my <a href="http://flutterbyatomicbutterfly.blogspot.com/search/label/Keeping%20Christmas">Keeping Christmas series</a>. I was given the cutest little stocking filled with candy and treats for Christmas 2018. I kept it on the window sill above my desk so that it could remind me that I wanted to see if I could recreate it. My cute Stampin' Up! demonstrator gave it to me for Christmas and I think it was part of their "Paper Pumpkin" line, but I could be wrong. I turned it inside out and traced it so that I could make some of my own. I do want to let everyone know that I am not claiming that this pattern is mine. I simply traced it and am now sharing it here. I will include a printable file for you, but our computer is in the shop right now so I can't get it uploaded. I will edit this post as soon as it becomes available. To begin, I pinned the pattern onto a double thickness of fabric right sides together.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lu6kJi8mF-Q/XEowIjSzwOI/AAAAAAABems/3zsubsPnOU8ayOalVlCIXJO5dGzjBiVbwCKgBGAs/s1600/20190122_113431.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1472" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lu6kJi8mF-Q/XEowIjSzwOI/AAAAAAABems/3zsubsPnOU8ayOalVlCIXJO5dGzjBiVbwCKgBGAs/s640/20190122_113431.jpg" width="587" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">I trimmed around the edges using my good scissors. Once it was cut, I was able to remove the pins and sew around the edges, leaving the top open.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KQnvwhYOn58/XEowIqNKH_I/AAAAAAABems/-QryQ3Mx_zkfWPzOZ-D7rQ3jG-wTZY7oACKgBGAs/s1600/20190122_113535.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1455" height="640" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KQnvwhYOn58/XEowIqNKH_I/AAAAAAABems/-QryQ3Mx_zkfWPzOZ-D7rQ3jG-wTZY7oACKgBGAs/s640/20190122_113535.jpg" width="582" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">I used a 1/4 inch seam allowance for all of my sewing for today's project. </span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Once it was sewn together, I ease clipped the toe and heel so that it would lay flat and have those nice curves.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">I put the seam in the back, but you will need to decide which direction you want the front of your stocking to go. I like the toe to go to the right, so that is how I decided what the "back" would be.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yXz7R9yrYcM/XEowIou3NfI/AAAAAAABems/qQQMaDj6Pc02HFSKuptGeDEiXLdVHggcQCKgBGAs/s1600/20190122_114917.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1555" data-original-width="1600" height="620" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yXz7R9yrYcM/XEowIou3NfI/AAAAAAABems/qQQMaDj6Pc02HFSKuptGeDEiXLdVHggcQCKgBGAs/s640/20190122_114917.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Because these stockings are so tiny, this part gets a little tricky. You need to place it on the sewing machine as shown.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Sew around the perimeter pulling the fabric out of the way so it doesn't get caught in the needle or presser foot. Rotate the stocking a little bit as you go.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Pull it out and fold it over the top of the stocking.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Once it is pulled out, give it a good press with the iron and you are finished! Yay! This is such a fun and easy project and you can whip out quite a few of these in no time at all! </div>

I made 4 total, but will be making more in the future! I hope you've enjoyed today's tutorial. If you have any questions, please leave a comment and I will answer it as best as I can. Thanks so much!<br />

<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Hello friends...it's been a little while since I've posted over here, but I'm sharing this project over on my papercrafting blog <a href="http://flutterbyatomicbutterfly.blogspot.com/">Flutter by Atomicbutterfly</a> for my Keeping Christmas project this month, but because they are sewn, they get double posted! LOL! I've made quite an assortment of these <a href="http://thimblesandthread.blogspot.com/search/label/flutterby%20basket">Flutterby Baskets</a> for different holidays so it probably won't surprise you that I made some for Christmas. I also made some <a href="http://thimblesandthread.blogspot.com/2016/12/handmade-handwarmers-tutorial.html">handmade handwarmers</a> using the same fabric. I do want to point out that I used heavyweight Pellon for these. I was so happy that I did and I actually won't ever go back to anything lighter. It is the perfect weight to keep these baskets sturdy and keep their shape.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Welcome friends...it's been a while! I'm back today sharing a little project that I worked on for my <a href="http://flutterbyatomicbutterfly.blogspot.com/search/label/Keeping%20Christmas">Keeping Christmas Series</a>. I haven't posted one here for a while, so it was fun to create something that I could share here as well!</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2koIfDQQ-Zw/WrbW7hLWeRI/AAAAAAAA7BI/necZZ1MryTkWq9q8I6SnhOuwN9VEIANOgCKgBGAs/s1600/2018-03-24-16-30-57.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1583" data-original-width="1600" height="315" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2koIfDQQ-Zw/WrbW7hLWeRI/AAAAAAAA7BI/necZZ1MryTkWq9q8I6SnhOuwN9VEIANOgCKgBGAs/s320/2018-03-24-16-30-57.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">If you are interested in reading more about the gift card holders, you can check that out <a href="https://flutterbyatomicbutterfly.blogspot.com/2018/03/keeping-christmas-deck-halls-and-fa-la.html">HERE</a>. </span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-T75Pn-roKMc/WrbW7h_hUUI/AAAAAAAA7BI/0OOQZaV-XxoMY15Av-LMjvp6sM5ggWs0ACKgBGAs/s1600/2018-03-24-16-27-27.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1539" data-original-width="1600" height="306" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-T75Pn-roKMc/WrbW7h_hUUI/AAAAAAAA7BI/0OOQZaV-XxoMY15Av-LMjvp6sM5ggWs0ACKgBGAs/s320/2018-03-24-16-27-27.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I ended up making 10 key wristlets in total. The fat quarter bundle that I picked up had 5 different designs, so I made 2 of each design.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fOLJcv1ktoc/WrbW7g1gs-I/AAAAAAAA7BI/NEssw_bsVtUzKJTXGO4Yf8Atl6OugsiFgCKgBGAs/s1600/2018-03-24-16-25-45.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1578" data-original-width="1600" height="315" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fOLJcv1ktoc/WrbW7g1gs-I/AAAAAAAA7BI/NEssw_bsVtUzKJTXGO4Yf8Atl6OugsiFgCKgBGAs/s320/2018-03-24-16-25-45.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">These are the supplies that I used. I found the fat quarter bundle at Wal-Mart. It has a metallic detailing that I thought would be fun for a Christmas project, without being Christmas-y. I purchased the hardware on Amazon and you can find it <a href="https://www.amazon.com/100-Country-Design-Wristlet-Hardware/dp/B06XG97KQX/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1521934365&sr=8-2&keywords=key+wristlet+hardware+bulk&dpID=51Uwe8-3tHL&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch">HERE</a>. </span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-l1XhudTOVQY/WrbW7p2fKJI/AAAAAAAA7BI/Zhn-tVl0PAkmHRYbWCCu6YzzOums1dPRQCKgBGAs/s1600/2018-03-24-16-26-15.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1365" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-l1XhudTOVQY/WrbW7p2fKJI/AAAAAAAA7BI/Zhn-tVl0PAkmHRYbWCCu6YzzOums1dPRQCKgBGAs/s320/2018-03-24-16-26-15.jpg" width="273" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">To begin, I cut 4 inch strips the with of the fabric. Once that was done, I pressed it, folded it in half, and then folded each of the sides in to meet the middle. I pressed that down and then folded them in half again.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PRLp9e9Su3E/WrbW7rCaeYI/AAAAAAAA7BI/hNKjNtFO5v4134ns5umqDovJ0VL6n18cwCKgBGAs/s1600/2018-03-24-16-26-41.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1528" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PRLp9e9Su3E/WrbW7rCaeYI/AAAAAAAA7BI/hNKjNtFO5v4134ns5umqDovJ0VL6n18cwCKgBGAs/s320/2018-03-24-16-26-41.jpg" width="305" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">You can see them all pressed here. It didn't take long at all. Once that was done, I stitched up each side with an 1/8 inch seam allowance. I was finding that my needle kept getting stuck and pulling up the bobbin thread in an unsightly manner. I discovered that it was due to the metallic portions of the fabric. I realized that I need to sew slower along those areas. After a while, my needle seemed to be just fine. I cut each piece to 12 1/2 inches long and then attached the hardware.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4fF7kuuAZVE/WrbW7sdCtdI/AAAAAAAA7BI/FcDj2yofDIgg6-ms3Di9qc6rfxSv4bj7ACKgBGAs/s1600/2018-03-24-16-28-00.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1531" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4fF7kuuAZVE/WrbW7sdCtdI/AAAAAAAA7BI/FcDj2yofDIgg6-ms3Di9qc6rfxSv4bj7ACKgBGAs/s320/2018-03-24-16-28-00.jpg" width="305" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I found that if I clamped the hardware down just small enough for the fabric to fit through BEFORE I threaded it in, I had much better results. It was easier for me to use my other hand to clamp and hold at the same time. These will be for my daughter to give to her friends this Christmas!</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Welcome to Thimbles and Thread! Today I am participating in Blog Hop in dedication to Papercrafter, Product Designer for <a href="http://www.papertreyink.com/"><span style="color: #e06666;">Papertrey Ink</span></a>, and friend, <a href="http://www.dawnmcvey.typepad.com/"><span style="color: #e06666;">Dawn McVey</span></a>. She is an incredible woman and an inspiration to me! We are celebrating her as she has just had a much needed transplant that will help her immensely.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"> Today we will be showcasing some of Dawn's amazing stamp sets and die cuts. I was lucky enough to be in need of some packaging for this baby ensemble that I put together, and Dawn's <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/stamps/made-with-love-stamp-set/"><span style="color: #e06666;">Made With Love</span></a> stamp set and <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/pti-dies/papertrey-ink-made-with-love-tags-2-die/"><span style="color: #e06666;">Tag Dies</span></a> are the perfect choice! I created a tag using these products to add on to the bib. I have lots more handmade papercrafted goodness for this set that you can see over on my other blog <a href="http://flutterbyatomicbutterfly.blogspot.com/2017/11/dedicated-to-dawn-papertrey-ink-blog.html"><span style="color: #e06666;">Flutter by Atomicbutterfly</span></a>.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">I created this baby ensemble for a sweet friend who is unexpectedly expecting her SIXTH child! LOL! I wanted to make her some fun things for her new little bundle. All of the fabric that I used on today's projects was bought in fat quarters at WalMart of all places. I have used it in the past, but it is just so darn cute!</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">The shoes are made using some grey anchor fabric. I have made LOTS of these shoes in the past which you can see<span style="color: #e06666;"> <a href="http://thimblesandthread.blogspot.com/search/label/shoes"><span style="color: #e06666;">HERE</span></a> </span>if you'd like. <span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">If I have left over fabric, which I did in this case, I always like to add a tissue cozy to the gift. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Happy Halloween! I hope you all have a frighteningly good time tonight and be SAFE!!! I've had so much fun doing all of my Halloween papercrafting and sewing! Today I am sharing some of my {Flutterby} baskets that will be headed to my boys' teachers today! I've packaged them up with all kind of fun Halloween goodies!</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2J_p2yYgvkA/WfiOnqUTeTI/AAAAAAAAtJc/oqfFg-_MpksBMA_wDQ_DK77twB6vM3aqgCKgBGAs/s1600/2017-10-30-21-58-56.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1061" height="640" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2J_p2yYgvkA/WfiOnqUTeTI/AAAAAAAAtJc/oqfFg-_MpksBMA_wDQ_DK77twB6vM3aqgCKgBGAs/s640/2017-10-30-21-58-56.jpg" width="424" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">I have a tutorial on these baskets that you can see <a href="http://thimblesandthread.blogspot.com/2017/04/the-flutterby-basket.html">HERE</a>. These have been so fun to make for different occasions. I have some plans for some holiday ones as well. I can't wait to go fabric shopping!</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-72zAyqUX7JE/WfiOnvZUEyI/AAAAAAAAtJc/ULgJA9XNjl0E2-jmLi2Ylz791fv9X2lHQCKgBGAs/s1600/2017-10-30-22-09-11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1504" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-72zAyqUX7JE/WfiOnvZUEyI/AAAAAAAAtJc/ULgJA9XNjl0E2-jmLi2Ylz791fv9X2lHQCKgBGAs/s400/2017-10-30-22-09-11.jpg" width="375" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">I got very lucky by picking my fabrics last minute because they had a huge selection and they were ALL 50 % off! Sometimes the early bird DOESN'T get the worm! LOL! I chose fabrics that appealed to me rather than keeping in "collections". I feel like these all work well together and represent my favorite Halloween aesthetic. </span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-f154g1NXHlY/WfiOn4fZ25I/AAAAAAAAtJc/N05WuanvLRIDlQofp82oiZkKxdaY56plACKgBGAs/s1600/2017-10-30-22-10-57.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1252" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-f154g1NXHlY/WfiOn4fZ25I/AAAAAAAAtJc/N05WuanvLRIDlQofp82oiZkKxdaY56plACKgBGAs/s640/2017-10-30-22-10-57.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">I asked for a yard each of the orange and black pom-poms hoping that I would be able to incorporate them somehow! I think they turned out so cute! The orange ones had enough of an edge that I could easily sew them on as I was doing my finishing stitches, but the black ones required hot glue!</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kQ0C2PKINB8/WfiOn3myfcI/AAAAAAAAtJc/CqsTOm1tAdEegI81_L7ssin60l7TcyD5wCKgBGAs/s1600/2017-10-30-22-12-34.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1269" height="640" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kQ0C2PKINB8/WfiOn3myfcI/AAAAAAAAtJc/CqsTOm1tAdEegI81_L7ssin60l7TcyD5wCKgBGAs/s640/2017-10-30-22-12-34.jpg" width="506" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Working with directional specific fabric can get tricky when you used it for the bottom piece. For instance, the pumpkins are right side up in the front, but in the back they are upside down. I knew that would happen going in, but if you don't want that to happen, stick to the directional fabrics for the top pieces.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dopiEAGrpy8/WfiOn1a3NzI/AAAAAAAAtJc/4t7-FaOzcFc2c9_dXDtHZpDKMufkKp8BgCKgBGAs/s1600/2017-10-30-16-47-51.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1234" data-original-width="1021" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dopiEAGrpy8/WfiOn1a3NzI/AAAAAAAAtJc/4t7-FaOzcFc2c9_dXDtHZpDKMufkKp8BgCKgBGAs/s640/2017-10-30-16-47-51.jpg" width="528" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Of course there is lots of papercrafty goodness which you can see <a href="https://flutterbyatomicbutterfly.blogspot.com/2017/10/halloween-treats.html">HERE</a>! Enjoy! Thanks for stopping by today!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">"I will honor Christmas in my heart and try to keep it all the year long!" ~Charles Dickens</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Hello and Welcome to November's installment of my Keeping Christmas 2017 series! Today I am sharing one of my holiday classics; the rice warmer. I had some flannel left over from last year's bags, so I figured I would whip some up to share with all of you! I particularly love making these for Christmas gifts because they are aren't gender specific and come in handy for anyone! I literally cannot get through the Winter months without keeping one of these handy! I use it in my bed, or just when I am sitting down relaxing watching a movie or reading! I just love them!</span><br />
<div>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-n6cLqVufhrQ/We-0i0F8umI/AAAAAAAAsfY/q5v6XYU3AN0BUqcZr4fRGq2dseBnEJ1dACKgBGAs/s1600/2017-10-24-15-33-07.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1542" data-original-width="1600" height="616" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-n6cLqVufhrQ/We-0i0F8umI/AAAAAAAAsfY/q5v6XYU3AN0BUqcZr4fRGq2dseBnEJ1dACKgBGAs/s640/2017-10-24-15-33-07.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">I plan on packaging these up with a canister of Hot Coca wrapped in cellophane! They look so festive under the Christmas tree until they are ready to be gifted! To begin, cut your flannel 7 1/2 inches by 9 1/2 inches. With right sides together, sew around the entire perimeter of the fabric, leaving a 3 inch opening for turning it out and filling it with rice! I use a plastic funnel from The Pampered Chef to funnel my rice into the bags. Pin the opening closed and sew it shut! It's as easy as that! So easy, yet such a great gift!</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-s6acqlYP4yE/We-0iwe2SsI/AAAAAAAAsfY/p5L5xjdnlYAepHazPmOARGyGr4bzqdMRgCKgBGAs/s1600/2017-10-24-15-11-21.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1437" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-s6acqlYP4yE/We-0iwe2SsI/AAAAAAAAsfY/p5L5xjdnlYAepHazPmOARGyGr4bzqdMRgCKgBGAs/s640/2017-10-24-15-11-21.jpg" width="574" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">I was 100 % inspired by the fair isle print in the red and grey flannel so I created coordinating tags for when I package them up! You can read more about those over on my Papercrafting blog <a href="http://flutterbyatomicbutterfly.blogspot.com/2017/10/keeping-christmas-let-it-snow-let-it.html">Flutter by Atomicbutterfly</a> If you are interested in seeing my other "Keeping Christmas" projects that I have worked on throughout the year, look on my sidebar for the "Keeping Chrismtas" label, click on it and it will take you to ALL of the posts! I have a few other sewn projects that I am hoping to tackle before Christmas so stay tuned!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">There's something about sewing for babies that makes me so happy...that's probably why I do it so much! I had the opportunity to host a baby shower for one of Emma's dance teachers that also happens to have moved to our neighborhood. If you'd like to see the coordinating paper crafts that I made to finish the ensemble off, you can see them here at <a href="http://flutterbyatomicbutterfly.blogspot.com/2017/05/sewn-with-love-little-one.html">Flutter by Atomicbutterfly</a>.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bnSghINzkeI/WQ5oJaqejYI/AAAAAAAAer8/CG9ikxSdp00tpFyYGZJH72bBeANSFE-mQCKgB/s1600/IMG_20170505_174224.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bnSghINzkeI/WQ5oJaqejYI/AAAAAAAAer8/CG9ikxSdp00tpFyYGZJH72bBeANSFE-mQCKgB/s400/IMG_20170505_174224.jpg" width="366" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Because this is a particularly busy time of year, I had a lot of other commitments going on all at once. I really wanted to make her a quilt, but didn't have time for anything complicated. I searched on Pinterest for "simple baby quilts" and the results boasted quite a few with just strips of fabric! They were all darling, too, so I knew I'd found a winner!</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ksv71hnE7yU/WQ5iZLryu8I/AAAAAAAAerE/Q3bN4_jxTcw7sVx1Mv3lO5Qf_r8uXkpTACKgB/s1600/IMG_20170505_115037.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ksv71hnE7yU/WQ5iZLryu8I/AAAAAAAAerE/Q3bN4_jxTcw7sVx1Mv3lO5Qf_r8uXkpTACKgB/s640/IMG_20170505_115037.jpg" width="510" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">I had enough left over fabric to make a bib, which is always a staple in my handmade gift ensembles. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hjtAi7n3bi4/WQ5iZPGTUMI/AAAAAAAAerE/-k9YDHxGMWIbzopdk1rAKT8wTvEqBc47wCKgB/s1600/IMG_20170505_115014.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hjtAi7n3bi4/WQ5iZPGTUMI/AAAAAAAAerE/-k9YDHxGMWIbzopdk1rAKT8wTvEqBc47wCKgB/s400/IMG_20170505_115014.jpg" width="327" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">I was also thrilled for a new release stamp set from PTI ink to finish off all of the packaging. I was feeling like my "packaging" was beginning to become stale. Aren't these "sewn with love" tags darling?</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ayQ-9h2feDw/WQ5iZAoNXWI/AAAAAAAAerE/zHiA640BRDIZF29UAgOmbumcVBo7kCWCQCKgB/s1600/IMG_20170505_114859.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ayQ-9h2feDw/WQ5iZAoNXWI/AAAAAAAAerE/zHiA640BRDIZF29UAgOmbumcVBo7kCWCQCKgB/s400/IMG_20170505_114859.jpg" width="365" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Of course a binkie clip would be included. These are so fast and fun to make and mom's can ALWAYS use them. I simply take a 4 inch wide strip of fabric and press it in half, fold each side into the center and press again. Fold that in half and sew up each side. Attach suspender clip hardware and velcro at the other end and you're done! If you're short on time, just whip up one of these with package of pacifiers and you're done! I buy my supender hardware in bulk on amazon so I always have some on hand.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZCiB4OcpQt4/WQ5iZFhj06I/AAAAAAAAerE/-O1mML9tdvE2QXWVixOgeUyfZYj2K6CfgCKgB/s1600/IMG_20170505_115114.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="387" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZCiB4OcpQt4/WQ5iZFhj06I/AAAAAAAAerE/-O1mML9tdvE2QXWVixOgeUyfZYj2K6CfgCKgB/s400/IMG_20170505_115114.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Once again, the new <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/stamps/made-with-love-stamp-set/">Made with Love</a> stamp set came in to play. I was able to stamp a quick sentiment for the shoe packaging. So fast and easy.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kWtOvezRI10/WQ5iZPwDr3I/AAAAAAAAerE/FEXDtJwocXg25ltWo0bQfZ-dfUY-YbyQACKgB/s1600/IMG_20170504_103043.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kWtOvezRI10/WQ5iZPwDr3I/AAAAAAAAerE/FEXDtJwocXg25ltWo0bQfZ-dfUY-YbyQACKgB/s640/IMG_20170504_103043.jpg" width="572" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Here are the shoes that I can't resist making. I added a little bit of a different treatment to the toe embellishment by making tiny little bows. So sweet and charming.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CajUC8frdGg/WQ5iZBYyA8I/AAAAAAAAerE/0RKROd6eGpUoZbRX3qEEN8uAubjnnYQOgCKgB/s1600/IMG_20170504_102553.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CajUC8frdGg/WQ5iZBYyA8I/AAAAAAAAerE/0RKROd6eGpUoZbRX3qEEN8uAubjnnYQOgCKgB/s640/IMG_20170504_102553.jpg" width="436" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">I've said it a hundred times...the headbands are always one of my favorites. They are like little pieces of art.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mSBpswYs4Fc/WQ5iZEqZ0mI/AAAAAAAAerE/wLRIbw_W3soz_wd7pcSQ6Gs4DDZRUrVpQCKgB/s1600/IMG_20170504_102507.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mSBpswYs4Fc/WQ5iZEqZ0mI/AAAAAAAAerE/wLRIbw_W3soz_wd7pcSQ6Gs4DDZRUrVpQCKgB/s640/IMG_20170504_102507.jpg" width="472" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">This particular set used a lot of felt flowers which are always fun to make. The one at the top is hard to see, but I also added a little cluster of custom buttons for something different.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">If you're needing a quick and easy gift packed with charm, look no further! These little key wristlets work up so fast! I made these particular ones for the secretaries at my sons' school today for "Administrative Professionals Day". I bought some lanyard hardware in bulk to have on hand for such occasions. <br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">These are the fabrics that I chose that fit the color scheme of my entire project. I just love how they work together, even though I found them on opposite sides of the fabric shelves. I really would love putting collections together! </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">I made two each of the three fabrics. The cute little tags were made using some stamps and paper that I have had for years, but the sentiment worked perfectly for this particular project.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yBdaHSVFTZY/WQDw0tZRaPI/AAAAAAAAd30/mSLNa2HydIsMgs7SR-ttc3dGMmjtb4TiwCKgB/s1600/IMG_20170426_115535.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yBdaHSVFTZY/WQDw0tZRaPI/AAAAAAAAd30/mSLNa2HydIsMgs7SR-ttc3dGMmjtb4TiwCKgB/s400/IMG_20170426_115535.jpg" width="255" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">If you'd like to find out more about the rest of the project you can read it about it <a href="http://flutterbyatomicbutterfly.blogspot.com/2017/04/navy-and-blush-secretaries-day-gifts.html">HERE</a>. Each wristlet was made using a 4 inch wide strip of fabric. I used the entire width of fabric which makes at least 3 wristlets. You can make yours longer or shorter depending on what you like better.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AB5fZ1ABKdQ/WQDw0qmSoAI/AAAAAAAAd30/B-rC1RYjzh0nnQJ9UyxV8Ulq615fuRYcgCKgB/s1600/IMG_20170426_115850.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AB5fZ1ABKdQ/WQDw0qmSoAI/AAAAAAAAd30/B-rC1RYjzh0nnQJ9UyxV8Ulq615fuRYcgCKgB/s640/IMG_20170426_115850.jpg" width="566" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Fold the strip in half and press. Then fold each end in to the middle crease line and press. Then fold that in half. Stitch along the loose edge. I just use the inside of my presser foot as my guide. Repeat on the closed edge as well. Thread your lanyard hardware onto the fabric, wrong sides out. Sew the end shut. Turn the fabric out, line the lanyard hardware up into the two cut ends and stitch shut. So fast and easy!</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">I have been up to all kinds of crafty goodness this last week! My two oldest kids needed an item to take to their youth camp fundraiser yesterday. Of course that means that I get to play! Ha ha! And to be honest, it didn't feel like work at all.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">When I was at the fabric store the last few weeks picking fabric for my last few projects, I eyed this darling vintage cherry print fabric line. Swoon! I knew it had to be mine! I made two baskets to hold a set of handmade cards that I created especially to match the baskets. It was SO much fun! You can see my tutorial for the baskets <a href="http://thimblesandthread.blogspot.com/2017/04/the-flutterby-basket.html">HERE</a>. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">You can see one of the cards peeking out of the basket here. I was so happy that I had a stamp set that matched the flowers on the fabric almost exactly. I love it when the crafting worlds collide and magic happens!</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">I added a gold embossed "Uniquely handmade" stamped circle to finish it off. "Sew" much fun! <span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">I've been having so much fun making all kinds of Easter and Spring projects! I whipped up a whole bunch of carrot treat boxes that you can see <a href="http://flutterbyatomicbutterfly.blogspot.com/2017/04/sweet-easter-treats.html">HERE</a>. After I was done, I really wanted some type of basket to put them in. My sweet friend made me a really cute fabric basket years ago. I had asked her if I could have the pattern and she told me she had gotten it off of Pinterest. I decided that it would just be easier to come up with something myself. There are many different versions of this type of fabric container, but this is my version. I have included a tutorial if you'd like to make one yourself. I'm calling it The {Flutterby} Basket.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">I'm planning on giving these to friends and family filled with all kinds of Easter goodies, including my carrot treat boxes {of course}.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">I picked up a few fat quarters at my favorite fabric store the other day and just couldn't wait to get started. Since I was coming up with my own pattern, I had to do a little math. By the time I was finished with the first one, I figured out all of the things that needed tweaking. If you follow this tutorial, you should end up with a nice finished product. I have had the chance to put it to the test now, numerous times! LOL! I ended up making 9 or so.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ohtMUAEJEoU/WOvjnp-6w5I/AAAAAAAAch0/cM2xx8GZxAUdQ5MxPq61eaIRw7Kwqyj6QCKgB/s1600/IMG_20170406_122559.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ohtMUAEJEoU/WOvjnp-6w5I/AAAAAAAAch0/cM2xx8GZxAUdQ5MxPq61eaIRw7Kwqyj6QCKgB/s400/IMG_20170406_122559.jpg" width="381" /></a></div>

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Grab your cutting mat, quilting ruler and rotary cutter and let's get started! You will want to choose your fabrics for the top piece, the bottom piece, the lining and the handles. It is important to use the right proportions in your print when selecting which fabrics to use. You don't want too large of a pattern to be used in the smaller places because they will get lost.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">I have arranged the fabric in these photos so you can get a visual of how it will be put together. The bottom portion is 9 by 7 inches (orange) and the top portion is 9 by 3 inches (blue floral), you will need to cut two of these,the handles are the same floral and are 4 inches by 13-14 inches. The lining fabric measures 9 by 12 inches and is the blue chevron print.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">I like to begin by making the handles. It is the last thing that you need, but by the time I am done putting everything else together, I'm so excited to see how it will turn out that I don't want to wait! I guess I'm still like a little kid at Christmas! LOL! </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Placing right sides together, sew a top panel to each side of the bottom panel as shown. Press seams open. This will aid in some of the later steps. I didn't take a picture of the next step so read carefully. Once you have pressed this portion well, with seams open, iron on some interfacing of your choice. I used a light weight Pellon because that is what I had on hand. If you would like your basket to be more sturdy, use a heavier interfacing or even an iron on fleece if you'd like. <span style="color: #cc0000;">ETA: I made a basket to hold a set of handmade cards so I wanted it to be more sturdy. I added the light weight Pellon to both the lining and the outside and it was perfect for the cards. I just bought some heavier interfacing that I will be trying out as well. I will leave a note as to how that works out.</span></span><br />

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Fold this piece in half, right sides together lining up the two pressed seams and pin. I find that it is very important to pin here because you want your sides to line up nicely. Use a 1/4 inch seam allowance. I actually just use the width of the presser foot because it is easier to press the seams open, but you can do what you'd like.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">This is the step where you will be "boxing" the corners. I have found a method that I really like, but if you have a method or technique that you like, use that. The boxed corners should measure 3 inches when they are complete. Start by measuring up your seam 1.5 inches and make a pencil dot right at the stitching line...not as far away as my ruler is showing. You will want to press the bottom of the lining and the outside piece as well because this gives you a nice "guide" line for a later step in the "boxing" process. Measure along the bottom from the stitching line at 1.5 as well. Make a pencil dot.(a good rule of thumb is to remember to measure half the amount as your finished box, for instance, if you want a 4 inch set corner, measure 2 inches from each side)</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">This photo is a side view of the next step. Hopefully it will make sense. Poke a pin into the open seam where you put your first pencil mark and poke it through the bottom pencil mark as well. Press the pin in completely and the fabric will form a triangle as you can see in the next photograph. I use this really small cutting mat with an awesome bias ruler as well that makes this next step a cinch.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Line your fabric triangle onto the pre-printed guide. Place your ruler where the pin enters the fabric. Mine just happened to line up perfectly with a line on the mat. It is very important to make this line straight so you end up with a nice straight, crisp box. I just used a pencil to make the line. Sew along the line.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Attach the handles to the outside fabric in this fashion. I actually found that I liked pinning them so they stuck up a little further than the edge of the basket to make sure they were sewn in and no little straggling edges didn't get sewn down. Place the outside portion into the lining portion that has been turned INSIDE OUT. REMEMBER...right sides together...just like when you sew. The outside of the basket it turned the right way and the lining is inside out. Make sure your handles are all tucked in nicely and punch the corners down so everything lines up. Pin the side seams of the lining and the outside so they line up as well. Again, pressing the seams open in the earlier steps really come in handy, here.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Sew along the entire basket leaving a 2 inch opening to turn it out, making sure to "catch" all of the handles. This is why I suggest having them stick up a little, which I didn't do in these photos. I started doing it on subsequent baskets because I had a few corners of the handles not quite make it into the seam. Ugh! I despise the seam ripper! </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">A friend of mine asked me if I had time to make her a baby boy set for an upcoming shower. I agreed and I had such a fun time putting this set together. I really enjoyed it because it wasn't a traditional baby boy set and it gave me some freedom to mix and match patterns in some different ways. When it was all said and done, it definitely had a "Scottish Highlands" kind of vibe to it, which I love...especially because of all of my Scottish heritage.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">I love the way the black gingham complements the different plaids and deer fabric. I always like when I put together something that isn't at all what I "normally" would do. The pacifier clip boasts a darling little baby deer button that is SECURELY attached (I wouldn't want to risk a choking hazard) and adds just the right amount of country charm. I chose to make the bowtie and pacifier clip out of the gingham because I used it the least in the bib. I really like striking a balance with color, pattern and print size.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">The rag quilt was actually the starting point for the entire collection. My friend shared the invitation which showcased a darling buffalo check that I really wanted to incorporate into the design. Unfortunately for me, the store was wiped clean and didn't have any left. I was able to find this red print which was an acceptable substitute and I did fine the tan and brown buffalo check which balanced the proportions out nicely.</span><br />

<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-f9-b8WTB7es/WKmunVmVhRI/AAAAAAAAaow/Tb3KZlmiXBE9HYiVp9Lop8hCNNutEsWegCKgB/s1600/IMG_20170111_114904.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-f9-b8WTB7es/WKmunVmVhRI/AAAAAAAAaow/Tb3KZlmiXBE9HYiVp9Lop8hCNNutEsWegCKgB/s640/IMG_20170111_114904.jpg" width="472" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">I realized that I shared this collection on Instagram and never added it to the blog! I created this gift collection in late December/early January for a dear friend who had her sweet baby boy! I had asked her the colors of the nursery for a jumping off point and I really like how everything came together. The collection includes: handmade felt baby booties, neck tie, bow tie, binky clip and rag quilt. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YM81XD-27rg/WKmunQ5px2I/AAAAAAAAaow/gy1IZ-3zOLU3xASK93FJjr07kiYVdzuvgCKgB/s1600/IMG_20170111_115031.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YM81XD-27rg/WKmunQ5px2I/AAAAAAAAaow/gy1IZ-3zOLU3xASK93FJjr07kiYVdzuvgCKgB/s400/IMG_20170111_115031.jpg" width="310" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Here is a closeup of the baby booties. I am so glad that I found a boy shoe that I like gifting as much as the girl shoes that I make. The recipients always seem so pleased with them. You can also see the rag quilt in the background of this photo. It has a trendy, rustic feel and the new mama told me it works perfectly in the nursery! I am so glad! The felt was all purchased at the local quilt shop and while I normally wouldn't have put this combination together, it really works!</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Let's talk about the ties...one of my baby boy collection staples. They are so fun to make and easy to whip up. This particular pattern was found on Pinterest and it is my favorite. You can search on Pinterest under "baby ties" and a handful of tutorials and free patterns are available. I always like adding some papercrafting flair to give my handmade pieces that boutique-y feel, that I love so much. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bM2ZXe724LY/WKmunZR_OnI/AAAAAAAAaow/Tf5IoUT_HfUVAtvvEs8_GaBWX5GCqrQBACKgB/s1600/IMG_20170111_114924.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bM2ZXe724LY/WKmunZR_OnI/AAAAAAAAaow/Tf5IoUT_HfUVAtvvEs8_GaBWX5GCqrQBACKgB/s400/IMG_20170111_114924.jpg" width="288" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">I always have so much fun with the bowties. In fact, I had to make three more just like this one for my three little ones. They were a perfect addition to their Valentine's Day outfits for church last Sunday! I have offered to create a tutorial on the bow ties for anyone that is interested, just leave a comment to let me know. Once again, I like packaging them up on a cardstock base of some kind with the addition of some stamping. This particular stamp set is from Papertrey Ink and is my go-to set.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rF97FmqPcvg/WKmunULSnwI/AAAAAAAAaow/P_6wCOPClTAeM2LxoBrqcin1uUrHcOj2QCKgB/s1600/IMG_20170111_130619.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rF97FmqPcvg/WKmunULSnwI/AAAAAAAAaow/P_6wCOPClTAeM2LxoBrqcin1uUrHcOj2QCKgB/s400/IMG_20170111_130619.jpg" width="385" /></a></div>

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">While the shoes are cute enough on their own, the packaging seems to take the presentation up a notch. It is also an easy way for me to keep a continuous flow with the theme of the collection. You can see the card that I included in the collection <a href="http://flutterbyatomicbutterfly.blogspot.com/2017/02/a-new-little-someone-gift-collection.html">HERE</a>. <span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Hello and welcome to Thimbles and Thread, where today, I will be sharing a quick tutorial on a fun wintertime craft I enjoy making for family and friends. To start off, you will need to gather your supplies: Fun and festive fabric, rotary cutter, self-healing mat and quilting ruler, scissors, sewing machine, coordinating or matching thread, funnel and rice. I always like to have some Christmas music playing while I'm crafting, but that step is optional! Ha ha! </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xVgBAwZGNHM/WE8OvRkCiVI/AAAAAAAAY80/4mzYeMJ58fcoLYWf8KjdGoWSgnYRhp5JACKgB/s1600/IMG_20161212_122312.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xVgBAwZGNHM/WE8OvRkCiVI/AAAAAAAAY80/4mzYeMJ58fcoLYWf8KjdGoWSgnYRhp5JACKgB/s400/IMG_20161212_122312.jpg" width="396" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">You will want to cut your squares to your desired width. This year I cut them into 4 1/2 inch squares. I've made them 4 inch squares in the past.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2LexsGZ14_M/WE8OvfPYUmI/AAAAAAAAY80/m4zyERb-kdQAzBorcDM8Iyg-StN85jFywCKgB/s1600/IMG_20161212_122531.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2LexsGZ14_M/WE8OvfPYUmI/AAAAAAAAY80/m4zyERb-kdQAzBorcDM8Iyg-StN85jFywCKgB/s400/IMG_20161212_122531.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">The red warmers on top are 4 inches versus 4 1/2 inch warmers underneath. I thought I would show you both so you could choose which size you'd prefer. 4 inches is perfect size to clasp in your hand, but I ended up liking the bigger ones in the end.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Here you can see the difference between the 2 sizes before they are sewn.</span><br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Once you have your squares cut, you will need to place them together, with right sides together and see around the entire square making sure to leave an opening large enough to funnel the rice in.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KUr39HaQ_sM/WE8OvRxUVjI/AAAAAAAAY80/jXrhZSr0etgpsjhiHW5BK2KZotFhnlbGwCKgB/s1600/IMG_20161212_123136.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KUr39HaQ_sM/WE8OvRxUVjI/AAAAAAAAY80/jXrhZSr0etgpsjhiHW5BK2KZotFhnlbGwCKgB/s400/IMG_20161212_123136.jpg" width="351" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"> This is the size you will want to make the opening. As you can see in this photo, I've made my seam allowance as wide as my presser foot. It's a little bit easier to sew the warmers closed once the rice is in having the larger allowance.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"> You will need to clip your threads and corners as you can see here. Turn the warmer right side out and press.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-M1RglHxR8_U/WE8OvcG8AsI/AAAAAAAAY80/-cE_ClrIB5kTSmaNKsNg-ygzX8QZHrWsQCKgB/s1600/IMG_20161212_123638.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="381" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-M1RglHxR8_U/WE8OvcG8AsI/AAAAAAAAY80/-cE_ClrIB5kTSmaNKsNg-ygzX8QZHrWsQCKgB/s400/IMG_20161212_123638.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Once they have been pressed, you can move back to your machine to sew the "tuft" in the center of each warmer. I do this by lining it up in the center as best as I can eyeball. ;) I take two stitches forward and then two stitches back, repeating a few times to make sure it will stay. Clip your threads.</span><br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Now is the fun part. Insert your funnel into the opening and fill with rice. I like to pour Mt rice into a big mixing bowl and add it to the funnel with a one half cup measuring cup. That is the perfect amount for the 4 1/2 inch size. I move the funnel to each side to make sure the rice gets around the tuft.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Once it's filled you can machine stitch the opening close and voilà ! You're done! Remember to make two since you'll be giving a pair. The 4 inch warmers shouldn't be heated for more than 30 seconds, but every microwave is different, so start at 30 and work your way up in 5 second intervals until your warmers reach the desired temperature. Use this for the 4 1/2 inch warmers as well.I really like picking fabric that can work all winter long, yet is still festive. The fabric pictured today is all Riley Blake. I hope you enjoyed today's tutorial. Please leave a comment if you found this helpful.</span><span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">I do want to clarify, that I did not come up with the "handwarmer" idea. I saw the idea somewhere a few years ago and wanted to give them a try. This tutorial, however, was created by me and I hope you have fun making them.</span>Kelly Luncefordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17098101473555852789noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3009267196579586464.post-12198189571101349642016-08-30T11:49:00.001-07:002016-08-30T11:53:29.825-07:00Babies are heaven sent<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ClxutUgTmis/V8XRj6GmyRI/AAAAAAAAXjk/8b5RQYYFCz0pAu0vU3YF1zbycAbWGAsggCKgB/s1600/IMG_20160823_134434.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ClxutUgTmis/V8XRj6GmyRI/AAAAAAAAXjk/8b5RQYYFCz0pAu0vU3YF1zbycAbWGAsggCKgB/s640/IMG_20160823_134434.jpg" width="402" /></a></div>
One of the ladies my sister works with asked me to make some baby goodies to give to her new grandbaby. The parents to be really like orange and blue so I went to my favorite quilt/fabric store and picked out some cute fabric. The felt the shoes are made out of is "vintage blue" from MFT.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-aSH_7XCnzWQ/V8XRj8ZMr3I/AAAAAAAAXjk/RWR_hodA3RIVFPT2bUX3HvnxquDCoNY2ACKgB/s1600/IMG_20160820_134659.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="352" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-aSH_7XCnzWQ/V8XRj8ZMr3I/AAAAAAAAXjk/RWR_hodA3RIVFPT2bUX3HvnxquDCoNY2ACKgB/s400/IMG_20160820_134659.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
I also made a few things for a friend's grandbaby who had a "storybook" shower last weekend. I whipped up a few things for her as well with the same fabric.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TfZaRdidvNI/V8XRj5nHfzI/AAAAAAAAXjk/pdXTXRc4UQ0C48J4tbLkYB1KkOpWQ04wACKgB/s1600/IMG_20160820_135231.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TfZaRdidvNI/V8XRj5nHfzI/AAAAAAAAXjk/pdXTXRc4UQ0C48J4tbLkYB1KkOpWQ04wACKgB/s400/IMG_20160820_135231.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
I packaged everything up in one of my classic book boxes that I love making (no pun intended). It fit the storybook theme perfectly.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rajqRovmFq4/V8XRj9Ad0kI/AAAAAAAAXjk/32nh3vT_Wi89Sg5hyz7PN6H-wi5YCcHbQCKgB/s1600/IMG_20160820_134931.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rajqRovmFq4/V8XRj9Ad0kI/AAAAAAAAXjk/32nh3vT_Wi89Sg5hyz7PN6H-wi5YCcHbQCKgB/s400/IMG_20160820_134931.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
Instead of a card, I made a library card & pocket for the inside of the book. I thought it was a cute thematic touch. You can see the box opened in the photo below. I have so much fun working on baby things. I oftentimes share things on Instagram that I don't blog about. Follow me @kellylunceford to stay up to date on all of my projects!<br />

It's no secret that I get invited to a lot of baby showers. Lately it seems that I am always working on something baby related. I decided to take some time and get a head start on some of the more time-consuming parts of the gift ensembles I like to give. I pulled a comfy chair into the shade of a tree, had my basket of supplies next to me and I got to work. It was so relaxing to stitch in the breeze of a beautiful summer day! Hence, perhaps the reason I ended up with 3 pairs of booties in 2 days. Actually, make that 4.... I made a girl pair yesterday that I will share later. I'm now addicted to crafting outside! Try it, you'll like it!<br />

Ahoy friends! I hope you all have enjoyed your Spring and ready to welcome Summer! I know I have! Anchors and springtime just seem to go together, don't they? Today's little gifts were made for a dear friend who is having her baby very soon but under distressing circumstances, unfortunately. Because the baby is coming early I had to quickly put this gift together. I wish I would have had a little more time, but it is what it is.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7AoO-FFF0d8/V14d9fykKCI/AAAAAAAAWMk/Y7NwNHFEjWUSclvw_2FvUZn6B-ocg_crACLcB/s1600/anchor%2Bshoes%2B2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="310" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7AoO-FFF0d8/V14d9fykKCI/AAAAAAAAWMk/Y7NwNHFEjWUSclvw_2FvUZn6B-ocg_crACLcB/s400/anchor%2Bshoes%2B2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
These shoes are some of my favorite that I have made to date. I just love the pink polka dot lining paired with the anchor fabric. The anchor button attached to the rosettes on the toes are just too cute! I had a lot of fun with these. The buttons are a bit heavy so the baby will get a nice workout kicking her feet in these little booties. Ha ha!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UzxXZqy35KY/V14eAAuCQQI/AAAAAAAAWMs/Qfhl0cpTx7kBVGW4ypc7_Avcyiev25u6gCLcB/s1600/sweet%2Blittle%2Bbaby%2Bheadbands.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UzxXZqy35KY/V14eAAuCQQI/AAAAAAAAWMs/Qfhl0cpTx7kBVGW4ypc7_Avcyiev25u6gCLcB/s640/sweet%2Blittle%2Bbaby%2Bheadbands.jpg" width="436" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I quickly whipped up a head band collection that I am sure she will get some good use of. I just love the felt bows so much. I thought they looked cute against the navy blue paper.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TUJkVsjgbSA/V14eMYZO_CI/AAAAAAAAWNM/6EDwH5-A9OcvhRSEnFFU8YSyGeH9MezugCLcB/s1600/sweet%2Blittle%2Bbaby%2Bheadbands%2B2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="341" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TUJkVsjgbSA/V14eMYZO_CI/AAAAAAAAWNM/6EDwH5-A9OcvhRSEnFFU8YSyGeH9MezugCLcB/s400/sweet%2Blittle%2Bbaby%2Bheadbands%2B2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I especially like packaging them up like this for a nice boutique feel. I made them quite small since her baby will be small due to the complications she is facing.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3EFazrLP3aA/V14eEbRCS8I/AAAAAAAAWM0/2zvzswdgjs0ch1wtSDC4olSk9tG_LAUmgCLcB/s1600/sweet%2Blittle%2Bbaby%2Bbib.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="562" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3EFazrLP3aA/V14eEbRCS8I/AAAAAAAAWM0/2zvzswdgjs0ch1wtSDC4olSk9tG_LAUmgCLcB/s640/sweet%2Blittle%2Bbaby%2Bbib.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
Here is the bib that I made. I found all of the fabric at Wal-mart, of all places. They actually have a nice little selection of fat quarters that I fell in love with. Fat quarters work very well for making the little shoes and the bibs because they have just enough fabric for a great price.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mB4WfMVrIH0/V14eOrDh7yI/AAAAAAAAWNU/XsZdE_0ooVk1AMS8zsrCKjJOc9zo_9B9QCLcB/s1600/sweet%2Blittle%2Bbaby%2Bfirst%2Byear%2Bbook.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="378" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mB4WfMVrIH0/V14eOrDh7yI/AAAAAAAAWNU/XsZdE_0ooVk1AMS8zsrCKjJOc9zo_9B9QCLcB/s400/sweet%2Blittle%2Bbaby%2Bfirst%2Byear%2Bbook.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I'm not planning on sharing the paper creations on my other blog: <a href="http://flutterbyatomicbutterfly.blogspot.com/">Flutterbyatomicbutterfly</a> so I will just share them here. This is a tiny "Baby's first year" flip book that I have come up with. I made my first one a little over a year ago for one of my other friends. You can check it out a few posts down. She has raved about it and it has become one of the things the recipients of my gifts really enjoy, so now it has become one of my "signature" items to give.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PXr1-PtU6bM/V14eH0A45hI/AAAAAAAAWM8/Bv7yUQ3dUeURUi9iBEA8bHMcVuJwnjFuACLcB/s1600/sweet%2Blittle%2Bbaby%2Bfirst%2Byear%2Bbook%2B2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="336" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PXr1-PtU6bM/V14eH0A45hI/AAAAAAAAWM8/Bv7yUQ3dUeURUi9iBEA8bHMcVuJwnjFuACLcB/s400/sweet%2Blittle%2Bbaby%2Bfirst%2Byear%2Bbook%2B2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
You can see one of the inside pages here. I have a page for what you see here, each month of their first year and then a back page where it lists all of the baby's "firsts" that happened that year. They are so fun to make and really a fun gift to give as well.<br />

Today's post is part of my marathon crafting I have been up to lately. I have spent more time in my craft space than I have in a long time! I have had a lot of fun and I'm still not done, but I wanted to share these things with you. If you want to see a little bit of some of the other things I have been working on you can see them <a href="http://www.flutterbyatomicbutterfly.blogspot.com/2015/04/berry-sweet-secretarys-day.html">here</a>. There a few sewn projects you might enjoy looking at.<br />
<br />
I didn't really plan to have two nautical/sailor baby boy ensembles to share, that's just how things turned out. I had another boy shower to go to and I had so much fun working on the projects on my last post, that I thought I would just pick up from there. The theme of the shower is "under the sea/nautical" and I am helping with the decorations, so I thought I would have the gift match as well.<br />
<br />
I saw an awesome quilt block that I decided would make a fantastic nautical bib. I didn't have dimensions or anything so I just got to work cutting, sewing, trimming and piecing and finally ended up with this bib. It turned out super cute, I think! There were a few places where my points didn't line up, but I'm finding that perfection is hard to come by these days! Ha Ha!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PU1VU2pVy9g/VTkEVqkjkkI/AAAAAAAAPU4/PLxP8gk3Qzw/s1600/sailboat%2Bbib%2Bflat.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PU1VU2pVy9g/VTkEVqkjkkI/AAAAAAAAPU4/PLxP8gk3Qzw/s1600/sailboat%2Bbib%2Bflat.jpg" height="387" width="400" /></a></div>
I laid it out flat for this picture so you can see the design better. I think I may try an entire quilt with these blocks sometime. It was fun to put together. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2rBcaquUj9M/VTkEkGMlDzI/AAAAAAAAPVA/hqKCrGr4DRE/s1600/nautical%2Brag%2Bquilt.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2rBcaquUj9M/VTkEkGMlDzI/AAAAAAAAPVA/hqKCrGr4DRE/s1600/nautical%2Brag%2Bquilt.jpg" height="434" width="640" /></a></div>
I went searching for nautical flannel but came up empty handed so I decided just to grab a few different colors and patterns and get to work. It looks so fresh and summery! I think it will be perfect for lazy days outside or trips to the park.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3oXd8w4jlvk/VTkE0MmO4CI/AAAAAAAAPVI/Zs0Kc3DDP5g/s1600/nautical%2Brag%2Bquilt%2B2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3oXd8w4jlvk/VTkE0MmO4CI/AAAAAAAAPVI/Zs0Kc3DDP5g/s1600/nautical%2Brag%2Bquilt%2B2.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
The squares on this quilt were 5 by 5 and I did 9 rows of 9 across. It is a little bit bigger than what I normally make, but I am sure it will work out great to lay down baby to play, etc.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kcARlCEsEvQ/VTkE4S1COEI/AAAAAAAAPVQ/4KhxWiitn7g/s1600/bow%2Btie%2Btrio%2B2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kcARlCEsEvQ/VTkE4S1COEI/AAAAAAAAPVQ/4KhxWiitn7g/s1600/bow%2Btie%2Btrio%2B2.jpg" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
More bow ties...what little gentlemen doesn't need a nice set of bow ties? I love these three different fabrics and they look so cute together.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-voXaTHqYCvM/VTkFBTYZtDI/AAAAAAAAPVY/ZhxlJ8v_jr0/s1600/bow%2Btie%2Btrio.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-voXaTHqYCvM/VTkFBTYZtDI/AAAAAAAAPVY/ZhxlJ8v_jr0/s1600/bow%2Btie%2Btrio.jpg" height="361" width="400" /></a></div>
There is something so precious about a baby in a bow tie, right? So dapper and sweet! I made these with elastic neck bands so they can grow with baby!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-y9yG-78KtWA/VTkFDGczn7I/AAAAAAAAPVg/skdHW8xQeYg/s1600/nautical%2Bstrap%2Bshoes.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-y9yG-78KtWA/VTkFDGczn7I/AAAAAAAAPVg/skdHW8xQeYg/s1600/nautical%2Bstrap%2Bshoes.jpg" height="640" width="528" /></a></div>
The shoes...one of my favorites. The first time I made these felt booties was in my last post and I decided to add the extra step of adding the strap. So glad I did...aren't they adorable? I really love it with the anchor button securing the strap in place.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WO-s4IYUKNQ/VTkFGtMPnKI/AAAAAAAAPVo/iLSYlVL2wYk/s1600/nautical%2Bstrap%2Bshoes%2B2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WO-s4IYUKNQ/VTkFGtMPnKI/AAAAAAAAPVo/iLSYlVL2wYk/s1600/nautical%2Bstrap%2Bshoes%2B2.jpg" height="400" width="290" /></a></div>
These booties were made using PTI felt and I have found that is the best to work with for these shoes. It is thicker than any other felt I have used and it seems to stitch up the best. I keep having problems with the holes tearing...don't know if that is a ME problem or a design problem. I think I will contact PTI and see if anyone else has had the same problem or to find out if I am doing something wrong.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_PPgvpxtGow/VTkFXCPyMfI/AAAAAAAAPVw/EYrLFR6P90M/s1600/nautical%2Bstrap%2Bshoes%2B3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_PPgvpxtGow/VTkFXCPyMfI/AAAAAAAAPVw/EYrLFR6P90M/s1600/nautical%2Bstrap%2Bshoes%2B3.jpg" height="640" width="606" /></a></div>

You can see them all packaged up here ready to go! So boutique-y! Love it! I also had a last minute decision to quickly make a binkie clip so I just whipped one up. It is quite long, I just folded it up for packaging. I like them to be a little long so that the baby doesn't feel too tethered! LOL!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EZmTaj7txJE/VTm2O8GlZGI/AAAAAAAAPYc/rmOmb6SXABQ/s1600/nautical%2Bbinkie%2Bclip.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EZmTaj7txJE/VTm2O8GlZGI/AAAAAAAAPYc/rmOmb6SXABQ/s1600/nautical%2Bbinkie%2Bclip.jpg" height="301" width="320" /></a></div>
The last project here is something that I put together to decorate the shower with, but will double as a gift. It is something I saw on Pinterest that I thought would be super easy to re-create. I just bought a canvas, paint and a star fish at Hobby Lobby and then added the vinyl lettering from a sister of a friend.

I have so much fun creating handmade items for baby showers. It seems like I go to ALOT! It seems like it has been girl after girl lately, but I finally needed a boy gift. One of Emma's dance teachers had a sweet baby boy. I purchased two little outfits that would look adorable with a bow tie and some booties to make it *squeal* worthy! There is just something about making baby boys look like little gentlemen that is so precious.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Aox3avw2uUo/VSkrvylGGDI/AAAAAAAAO-w/nHuMW7ZUD40/s1600/bow%2Btie%2Bcloseup.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Aox3avw2uUo/VSkrvylGGDI/AAAAAAAAO-w/nHuMW7ZUD40/s1600/bow%2Btie%2Bcloseup.jpg" height="400" width="367" /></a></div>
I have experimented with different bow tie techniques over the years and finally came up with something that works the best for me. If you are interested in a bow tie tutorial, let me know and I can put one together. I chose some fun nauticalish fabric that looks great with the two outfits. I packaged it up so it would have a nice a boutique feel.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8A_S8OQeqBE/VSkrzgWIvII/AAAAAAAAO-4/ReMm7azmO5o/s1600/sailor%2Bshoes.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8A_S8OQeqBE/VSkrzgWIvII/AAAAAAAAO-4/ReMm7azmO5o/s1600/sailor%2Bshoes.jpg" height="392" width="400" /></a></div>
You all know how much I love making <a href="http://thimblesandthread.blogspot.com/search/label/shoes">baby girl shoes</a> but for boys, I really haven't done any. I bought some patterns at Hobby Lobby a few years ago, but haven't even cracked it open. I decided that I would take the easy route and purchase the PTI baby bootie die cuts. Easy, Peasy and I love how they look! This was my first pair so I kept things SIMPLE so that I could get the hang of it. The only embellishment is the anchor buttons that I picked up at Hobby Lobby 2 years ago. I'm sure they still have them.<br />

I am excited to keep making more of these sweet booties, boy OR girl! I did another post <a href="http://flutterbyatomicbutterfly.blogspot.com/2015/04/sail-away-baby-boy.html">here</a> where I talked a little bit more about the paper projects if you are interested! Have a wonderful spring day!Kelly Luncefordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17098101473555852789noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3009267196579586464.post-18236541161868044462015-03-04T08:34:00.000-08:002015-03-04T08:55:11.332-08:00Bundles of Babies<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I have been working hard this past week getting all kinds of baby goodies ready for a shower I am headed to on Saturday. I had another baby shower last Saturday! Whew! Like I said, Bundles of Babies! I have already given this particular friend some of my handmade baby items that you can see <a href="http://thimblesandthread.blogspot.com/2013/03/cutie-patootie-baby-gift-ensemble.html">here</a> a few years ago, so I didn't go overboard this time around. Every baby is special and deserves some fun stuff. I did buy her a few fun new outfits, too. I just love baby girl clothes!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RKzO_jhfOM4/VPcxUjKFLFI/AAAAAAAAODg/lqhtK5oCH9s/s1600/Bundles%2Bof%2BBabies%2Bshoes.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RKzO_jhfOM4/VPcxUjKFLFI/AAAAAAAAODg/lqhtK5oCH9s/s1600/Bundles%2Bof%2BBabies%2Bshoes.jpg" height="310" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
You can see a little snippet of the handmade card I made to go with her gift. Last time I didn't have time for the card so it was a super quick last minute throw-together, so I decided to spend a little more time on it this time around. I will link the details about that when I get that post ready on my other blog. Okay...you can check it out <a href="http://flutterbyatomicbutterfly.blogspot.com/2015/03/bundles-of-babies.html">here</a>. Also, over that last few years I have had quite a few emails and questions about the shoes I make. The pattern is from a local quilt shop and the pattern is called "Beaded Baby Shoes". The quilt shop is called "Pipers Quilts and Comforts" and you can visit them at www.pipersquilts.com or call them at 801-484-5890. I hope that information helps. I also do custom orders as well and take payment through pay pal if you would like to order a pair from me. You can see all of the different ones I have made by visiting the link on the sidebar called "shoes".<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
I made her quite a few headbands because I was on a roll. They are so fun to make and so easy, especially when you have everything out. <br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I made a couple of bows, a couple of felt flowers and one with just a big daisy since I don't think I will use those daisies on anything else. LOL!<br />

You can see the rag quilt I made her here. I have had the fabric for a few years now and thought it better get used for her. I love how it turned out.<br />

With the last baby ensemble I shared, I showed a little picture of a baby's first year tag book I made but the picture was awful, so I made a new one and you can see it a little better here. I will also be sharing the details of this on my other blog as well.Kelly Luncefordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17098101473555852789noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3009267196579586464.post-26572587304440958962015-02-08T12:22:00.000-08:002015-02-10T13:53:26.688-08:00Valentine's Pillowcase Dress<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EJDn3fgL2eE/VNfBlqmMKiI/AAAAAAAANtM/jnP00PUWKlU/s1600/valentine's%2Bpillowcase%2Bdress.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EJDn3fgL2eE/VNfBlqmMKiI/AAAAAAAANtM/jnP00PUWKlU/s1600/valentine's%2Bpillowcase%2Bdress.jpg" height="640" width="318" /></a></div>
Welcome to day #8 of my "14 days of Valentines" series! I have been having a lot of fun working on all of these lovey projects! I bought the fabric for this dress back in December and it has been sitting and waiting for me to give it some attention. Well...my husband took himself, Emma and 3 of the 4 boys for haircuts last night. Emma didn't get a cut, just there for backup! Believe me, with my crazy boys, it is NEEDED! After they left I sat down and got to work on this pillowcase dress, I wanted Emma to be able to wear it to church today and she did. Pardon the slightly blurry pictures, I had to snap quickly so we could be on time for 9:00 church! My husband wasn't amused that I was taking blog pictures before church!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ba92OLCaq2Q/VNfBnKs7rpI/AAAAAAAANtU/G8HwRilCWKk/s1600/valentine's%2Bpillowcase%2Bdress%2Bview%2B2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ba92OLCaq2Q/VNfBnKs7rpI/AAAAAAAANtU/G8HwRilCWKk/s1600/valentine's%2Bpillowcase%2Bdress%2Bview%2B2.jpg" height="400" width="210" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
All of the fabric is by Riley Blake, but they are all patterns from My Mind's Eye. I always get a thrill when my two loves come together. Now I need to get the paper so I can craft something up to match! LOL! I was thrilled when I was pregnant with Emma and all of the fabric I used on her crib bedding and quilts was made into a paper line! I had so much fun crafting and sewing coordinating things!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kiMBhPaCrr8/VNfBqF8qd4I/AAAAAAAANtc/QwAi_EbIlLE/s1600/valentine's%2Bpillowcase%2Bdress%2Bwith%2Bbraids.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kiMBhPaCrr8/VNfBqF8qd4I/AAAAAAAANtc/QwAi_EbIlLE/s1600/valentine's%2Bpillowcase%2Bdress%2Bwith%2Bbraids.jpg" height="400" width="312" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
You can see the straps a little bit better here. You can also see Emma's heart hair that I have to do every Valentine's Day as well. She has been sporting heart hair all year, though, since she got a super cute heart outfit for back to school, so whenever she wears it I try and do something "heartish".<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5DiqfSiKd7c/VNfBtEB8f8I/AAAAAAAANtk/oZHzqg2fXug/s1600/valentine's%2Bpillowcase%2Bdress%2Bback%2Bbview.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5DiqfSiKd7c/VNfBtEB8f8I/AAAAAAAANtk/oZHzqg2fXug/s1600/valentine's%2Bpillowcase%2Bdress%2Bback%2Bbview.jpg" height="400" width="220" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I love how quickly a pillowcase dress works up. I was done before they got done with the haircuts! I was so pleased with myself. If you haven't made one before, they are so easy. You simply made a pillowcase but leave both ends open. Make a casing for the elastic, sew it in place and add the straps! So, {sew}, easy!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-j6UupHbFbms/VNfBuN7K00I/AAAAAAAANts/5xN_Z3hBcAs/s1600/valentine's%2Bpillowcase%2Bdress%2Bhem%2Bview.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-j6UupHbFbms/VNfBuN7K00I/AAAAAAAANts/5xN_Z3hBcAs/s1600/valentine's%2Bpillowcase%2Bdress%2Bhem%2Bview.jpg" height="400" width="301" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Blurry picture, but you can see the hem detail a little bit better here. I think this is probably the last time I will be making Emma a pillowcase dress and her days of heart hair are dwindling. Can I tell you how much my heart is breaking coming to this realization? She is growing up too fast and she is my only girl! Where did the time go? I wish I could go back in time and snuggle my curly haired, blue eyed baby some more...hold her longer, play more barbies and dollies. The days are long but the years are short...said some wise person somewhere. It is one of my favorite quotes because it is soooo true!Kelly Luncefordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17098101473555852789noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3009267196579586464.post-75897218337555467322015-02-02T06:32:00.001-08:002015-02-02T06:37:26.150-08:00Be My Valentine fabric banner<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Welcome! I am doing a "14 days of Valentines" series on my two blogs this month. I will be posting things randomly on both blogs. Today is project #2! If you would like to see yesterday's project, you can see it <a href="http://www.flutterbyatomicbutterfly.blogspot.com/2015/02/oh-how-i-love-youi-really-do.html">here</a> Remember that Valentine's Day fabric I referred to in my last post. I mentioned I wanted to make a table runner last year and didn't get around to it. Well...hopefully I have enough left over for the table runner because I quickly whipped this up on Friday. We were having dinner guests and I felt my front door needed something more, so I got to work making this. The funny part is that it looked better here than on my front door.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fJq_HgreOZA/VM-HW5y1LmI/AAAAAAAANlA/TbgGF-SU3KA/s1600/IMG_20150131_161654.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fJq_HgreOZA/VM-HW5y1LmI/AAAAAAAANlA/TbgGF-SU3KA/s1600/IMG_20150131_161654.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I love making fabric banners almost as much as my <a href="http://www.flutterbyatomicbutterfly.blogspot.com/search/label/Banners">paper</a> ones. I think when I have more time I will add a few more bells and whistles, but for my super quick project, I think it turned out cute. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iPkm-dCTCdM/VM-HWziRzXI/AAAAAAAANlA/5iL2iMIWqvs/s1600/IMG_20150131_161701.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iPkm-dCTCdM/VM-HWziRzXI/AAAAAAAANlA/5iL2iMIWqvs/s1600/IMG_20150131_161701.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
The first thing you will need to do is figure out how long and how big you would like your banner. I knew that I would be using it for the front door, so I estimated how many triangles I would need. I wanted it to stretch across but have some swag as well. I cut rectangles 5 by 7 1/2 inches. Turn them right sides together for the next step (I didn't but it probably is better to do it). Place the rectangles on your cutting mat and find the center using the markings on the mat and cut your triangles. Sew them up, turn them out, and press them. I used double fold bias tape to adhere everything together on this banner. This is thin...I didn't have anything thicker, but I would recommend at least 1/2 inch-1 inch. You can pin everything in place ahead of time if that is how you like to do things, but I found it to be much easier to just open the bias tape as I went and add each triangle. I put my needle in the down position and as I got close the the end of each triangle, I lifted the presser foot, opened the bias tape and added the next triangle. It worked well and I wasn't getting stuck with pins! I used a zig zag stitch to make sure it was secure.<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
Here is another fun fabric tip for all of you non sewers. I have this frame on my mantel and I switch out the fabric. I found the frame at Goodwill and had a painting on canvas inside. I knew I was only buying it for the frame, but the canvas worked well as a base to wrap the fabric around. You can switch out the fabric for the season.<br />

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ccAS_1g-UeY/VL836x6p0QI/AAAAAAAANaw/lIBq4ZWFWTU/s1600/uniquely%2Bhandmade%2Bquilt.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ccAS_1g-UeY/VL836x6p0QI/AAAAAAAANaw/lIBq4ZWFWTU/s1600/uniquely%2Bhandmade%2Bquilt.jpg" height="496" width="640" /></a></div>
It's always a good day when I get to work on a baby project. I was invited to a baby shower for one of the gals in my previous neighborhood and it couldn't have come at a better time. The holidays were ending but my desires to be crafty and creative were still in full force. It was seriously the best after Christmas therapy I could have asked for. My older kiddos were home from school so I could just work on things each day and not have to worry about what the little ones were up to. There is something so relaxing and rejuvenating about the creative process.<br />
<br />
I ALWAYS make rag quilts so I decided to switch things up and work on a traditional quilt instead. I fell in love with all of these gorgeous fabrics from Hobby Lobby. The quilt turned out so cute, I almost kept it for myself! Shhhhhh....don't tell anyone!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CGBFxDYbm30/VL84EFUWxVI/AAAAAAAANbA/xceBZuBVXeI/s1600/uniquely%2Bhandmade%2Bquilt%2Bwith%2Bback.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CGBFxDYbm30/VL84EFUWxVI/AAAAAAAANbA/xceBZuBVXeI/s1600/uniquely%2Bhandmade%2Bquilt%2Bwith%2Bback.jpg" height="310" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The fabric that I used for the backing is my most favorite...it is so bright and cheery! The quilting was all done on my sewing machine and I just went with a stipple pattern. I always love how it looks when it it all done. I'm still a beginner, but I hope to improve with each project that I work on. I have some fabric for a table runner that I was SUPPOSED to make last Valentine's Day, but I didn't get around to it. Hopefully I can get that done and practice some more.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TxCrDc3RvVM/VL84CconokI/AAAAAAAANa4/_cp-fxgrnag/s1600/uniquely%2Bhandmade%2Bheadbands.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TxCrDc3RvVM/VL84CconokI/AAAAAAAANa4/_cp-fxgrnag/s1600/uniquely%2Bhandmade%2Bheadbands.jpg" height="400" width="285" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Here is a little trio of headbands that I created to match the quilt. I also found this adorable stamp at Hobby Lobby when I was picking up the fabric and I knew how cute it would be to make all of the items have a "boutique" feel to them. I do apologize for the photos, I waited until the morning of the baby shower to finally photograph everything and the lighting was dismal, to say the least. The fist headband was made using felt and diecuts, the second one was made using ribbon and a button for the center, and the last one was the easiest of them all; a premade embellishment from Hobby Lobby as well. I love that store, can you tell?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ee8qoTe6Dxc/VL84EeJqlsI/AAAAAAAANbE/rjOt9dypTsM/s1600/uniquely%2Bhandmade%2Bshoes.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ee8qoTe6Dxc/VL84EeJqlsI/AAAAAAAANbE/rjOt9dypTsM/s1600/uniquely%2Bhandmade%2Bshoes.jpg" height="317" width="400" /></a></div>
Shoes....of course there are shoes. I thought how fun it would be to make a little pair of shoes for her baby's blessing day. White, pristine,precious.....ummmmmm.....NO! I will never make white shoes again. I poked my finger with a pin and almost bled all over the white fabric, I burnt the bottom while I was pressing them, etc. etc. What a pain....never again! They did, in the end, turn out salvageable, but they gave me fits! LOL! I thought it would be cute to clip them together using a clothes pin and one of the "uniquely handmade" images on them for cohesiveness.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-S-ePyNzvZG4/VL84IP7XCqI/AAAAAAAANbQ/yoyObdt4s2I/s1600/uniquely%2Bhandmade%2Bbib.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-S-ePyNzvZG4/VL84IP7XCqI/AAAAAAAANbQ/yoyObdt4s2I/s1600/uniquely%2Bhandmade%2Bbib.jpg" height="400" width="308" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Another example of my "cute as a button" bibs. Easy-peasy and perfect for using up left over scraps. I did learn something to note, however. I did the embroidery using my walking foot since it was already on my machine from attaching the binding to the quilt. It did not stitch the pattern correctly, but I only noticed this once I had done an entire row. I decided to leave it for the entire bit, except for the tie. I have a Bernina sewing machine for those that may have one and want to use it for embroidery. You definitely need to have the right presser foot on for the right stitches! LOL!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-F4W0_ugRuvI/VL84JYIvLOI/AAAAAAAANbY/pNZ3rrGuT-0/s1600/babys%2Bfirst%2Byear.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-F4W0_ugRuvI/VL84JYIvLOI/AAAAAAAANbY/pNZ3rrGuT-0/s1600/babys%2Bfirst%2Byear.jpg" height="320" width="400" /></a></div>
And lastly, you can see a little paper project I worked on to include with the gift. The recipient is not into handmade cards and tags, but it would just KILL me to not have a tag on the gift, so I decided to give her something she could use and satisfy my vanity at the same time. I quickly made her a "Baby's First Year" booklet. I put it on a ring and she can flip through. Each page has a place to write milestones for each month as well as cute things her baby might do. I also included at the beginning a place for statistics and then in the back I made a page for all of her "firsts". It turned out cute and she loved it!Kelly Luncefordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17098101473555852789noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3009267196579586464.post-37505987068147780882014-07-03T11:30:00.000-07:002015-02-02T06:34:02.175-08:00Patriotic Pillowcase Dress<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I am the type of mom that likes to get as much mileage out of my kids clothes as I possibly can. I buy them to last and I try and take care of them, too. With that being said, my darling Emma has been wearing the same patriotic clothes for a few years now. I think if I see the same outfits in my holiday pictures I might go crazy. She asked me if I would make her a new pillowcase dress for the 4th of July. We are lucky here in Utah that we also celebrate the 24th of July, which is a state holiday, in a patriotic way as well. July is just red, white and blue all month long. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YMTg8SrzLKk/U7We61IEPkI/AAAAAAAAJbY/N6u77f8R0nA/s1600/dress+pic+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YMTg8SrzLKk/U7We61IEPkI/AAAAAAAAJbY/N6u77f8R0nA/s1600/dress+pic+2.jpg" height="400" width="310" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
I found my fabric choices at Hancock Fabric, which I haven't been to in years. I usually like to go to the quilts shops for my fabric, but it was in the direction I was headed so that is where I went. LOL! They had a section of fabric at the front that was all patriotic, but was a little over the top for the dress. I did find the stars there and thankfully they were half off. The other 2 fabrics I found over in the calico section. The fabric for the base of the dress coincidentally was named "Firecracker".<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xK7_ieUiBys/U7WfBDwescI/AAAAAAAAJbg/_yRGdZIAydg/s1600/dress+with+bottom+detail.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xK7_ieUiBys/U7WfBDwescI/AAAAAAAAJbg/_yRGdZIAydg/s1600/dress+with+bottom+detail.jpg" height="310" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
The bottom is simply two different fabrics folded in half and then sewn to the bottom. I love how easily these dresses work up.<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
You can see the straps a little better in this photo as well as the gathered front piece. The straps are made by making simple bias tape or not necessarily on the bias, but folded the same way.<br />

You can see my daughter's cute nails here, which she is so proud of! I'm just going to humor her a little! If you are short on time, this is the project for you! I really like this because you could make it shorter and just have it be a little top with jean shorts or leggings, too! Super fast, but super cute! We are headed to the fireworks tonight so she is all ready to go!Kelly Luncefordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17098101473555852789noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3009267196579586464.post-34955141207266276432014-05-29T19:30:00.003-07:002014-05-29T19:30:53.529-07:00Vintage Picnic Baby Ensemble<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

My sister had a baby shower for one of the gals she works with and she asked if I would put together a little ensemble for her to give. I said yes, of course! We went and picked out fabric together and I just love what we picked! It always makes sewing so much more enjoyable when you love the fabric you are working with. These particular fabrics are from Riley Blake and Moda. I named this ensemble "Vintage Picnic" because that is what it reminds me of.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xeQHFEilTE0/U4fqv190pJI/AAAAAAAAH-o/cieTzD7Jtig/s1600/Vintage+Picnic+bib.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xeQHFEilTE0/U4fqv190pJI/AAAAAAAAH-o/cieTzD7Jtig/s1600/Vintage+Picnic+bib.jpg" height="400" width="343" /></a></div>
<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I love how the bib turned out. The patterns and colors are so cute.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cEmuu4uWyS8/U4fqy4Y1p0I/AAAAAAAAH-w/s2Kb2u30eWc/s1600/vintage+picnic+headband+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cEmuu4uWyS8/U4fqy4Y1p0I/AAAAAAAAH-w/s2Kb2u30eWc/s1600/vintage+picnic+headband+1.jpg" height="400" width="387" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I made three headbands, but only did a closeup of this one. I have showcased alot of headbands on here, but this one was just a little different so I thought I would give it a little limelight. I used colored elastic for the base as you can see here. I had a reject fabric rosette left over from the shoes, so I thought rather than toss it, I would use it in a headband.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JP7CPICahlA/U4fq6jml9mI/AAAAAAAAH_A/Xx4976X9zrw/s1600/vintage+picnic+headband+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JP7CPICahlA/U4fq6jml9mI/AAAAAAAAH_A/Xx4976X9zrw/s1600/vintage+picnic+headband+2.jpg" height="248" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
You can see the elastic a little better here. I tried it on all three of my little boys while I was making it for size. They looked so cute, but don't tell my husband.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-I2HDm3pi0mM/U4fq67icBNI/AAAAAAAAH_E/GTfiYiiDK-Q/s1600/vintage+picnic+shoes.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-I2HDm3pi0mM/U4fq67icBNI/AAAAAAAAH_E/GTfiYiiDK-Q/s1600/vintage+picnic+shoes.jpg" height="338" width="400" /></a></div>
And of course, the shoes! They are always the favorite and how could they not be? Tiny little shoes are always adorable! I really liked how they turned out as well! I love the tiffany blue polka dot lining.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
A onesie with a stamped sentiment completes the ensemble. I did realize after I had already uploaded all of the pictures that I didn't showcase the bracelet. That's okay...I didn't sew it anyway! LOL!Kelly Luncefordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17098101473555852789noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3009267196579586464.post-3589292034676458972014-05-10T14:16:00.001-07:002014-05-10T14:17:26.342-07:00"Little One" baby ensemble<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Hello! It's me again with another baby ensemble, but very simple this time. I have all of the information about the box and card <a href="http://www.flutterbyatomicbutterfly.blogspot.com/2014/05/little-one-baby-gift-ensemble.html">here</a> if you are interested. I am sharing this ensemble here because it is a bit different than what I normally do and I thought some of you might be interested.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FGIi8tfzNhY/U26VKhLlYlI/AAAAAAAAHhA/g068lVsdUzA/s1600/little+one+onesie.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FGIi8tfzNhY/U26VKhLlYlI/AAAAAAAAHhA/g068lVsdUzA/s1600/little+one+onesie.jpg" height="372" width="400" /></a></div>
I wanted to share the onesie with you and tell you a bit about how I did it. I wanted the pink headband pictured below to be cohesive with the onesie, so I used the same diecut for each one. I found a scrap of purple fabric that I wanted to use. Then I pressed the wonder under to the WRONG side of the fabric. I then die-cut the fabric using my die and cuttlebug. Once that was done, I peeled the backing from the wonder under and then pressed it onto the onesie. I chose not to stitch around the flower due to it's sharp points. If you have the patience, I would recommend doing that. This will probably fray on the ends once it is washed, but I like that shabby look, so you would have to decide what you are after. I would recommend using a small blanket stitch or just a regular straight stitch if you have a steady hand and are a good seamstress.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Here is one of my trademark headbands, but they are just so cute. I think if I had a baby girl I probably wouldn't have to share so much here. I just really miss having a little baby girl!<br />
