A little bit country..{baby collection}
A friend of mine asked me if I had time to make her a baby boy set for an upcoming shower. I agreed and I had such a fun time putting this set together. I really enjoyed it because it wasn't a traditional baby boy set and it gave me some freedom to mix and match patterns in some different ways. When it was all said and done, it definitely had a "Scottish Highlands" kind of vibe to it, which I love...especially because of all of my Scottish heritage.
I love the way the black gingham complements the different plaids and deer fabric. I always like when I put together something that isn't at all what I "normally" would do. The pacifier clip boasts a darling little baby deer button that is SECURELY attached (I wouldn't want to risk a choking hazard) and adds just the right amount of country charm. I chose to make the bowtie and pacifier clip out of the gingham because I used it the least in the bib. I really like striking a balance with color, pattern and print size.
The rag quilt was actually the starting point for the entire collection. My friend shared the invitation which showcased a darling buffalo check that I really wanted to incorporate into the design. Unfortunately for me, the store was wiped clean and didn't have any left. I was able to find this red print which was an acceptable substitute and I did fine the tan and brown buffalo check which balanced the proportions out nicely.
and...the shoes...love, love, love the shoes. They are always the perfect addition to all of my collections. I really like the way the chocolate brown stitching defines the shoe.
The base of the shoe is made from Kraft wool felt from PTI and the fringe detail is made from brown wool felt from PTI. The floss is DMC.
The packaging always takes the cuteness factor up a few points. I know I always say it, but I just love the boutique-y feel it gives the set. The stamped images are from PTI and the pattern paper is from a mini pad from The Paper Studio found at Hobby Lobby.
The entire set includes: a rag quilt, bow tie, neck tie, pacifier clip, onesie, felt booties, baby's first year tag book, handmade card, and bib. You can read about the details of the papercrafted items HERE. You can follow me on Instagram @kellylunceford .
