Out to Sea baby ensemble

Today's post is part of my marathon crafting I have been up to lately. I have spent more time in my craft space than I have in a long time!  I have had a lot of fun and I'm still not done, but I wanted to share these things with you. If you want to see a little bit of some of the other things I have been working on you can see them here. There a few sewn projects you might enjoy looking at.

I didn't really plan to have two nautical/sailor baby boy ensembles to share, that's just how things turned out. I had another boy shower to go to and I had so much fun working on the projects on my last post, that I thought I would just pick up from there. The theme of the shower is "under the sea/nautical" and I am helping with the decorations, so I thought I would have the gift match as well.

I saw an awesome quilt block that I decided would make a fantastic nautical bib. I didn't have dimensions or anything so I just got to work cutting, sewing, trimming and piec…

Ahoy, Little Sailor!

I have so much fun creating handmade items for baby showers. It seems like I go to ALOT! It seems like it has been girl after girl lately, but I finally needed a boy gift. One of Emma's dance teachers had a sweet baby boy. I purchased two little outfits that would look adorable with a bow tie and some booties to make it *squeal* worthy!  There is just something about making baby boys look like little gentlemen that is so precious.
I have experimented with different bow tie techniques over the years and finally came up with something that works the best for me. If you are interested in a bow tie tutorial, let me know and I can put one together.  I chose some fun nauticalish fabric that looks great with the two outfits. I packaged it up so it would have a nice a boutique feel.
You all know how much I love making baby girl shoes but for boys, I really haven't done any. I bought some patterns at Hobby Lobby a few years ago, but haven't even cracked it open. I decided that …

Bundles of Babies

I have been working hard this past week getting all kinds of baby goodies ready for a shower I am headed to on Saturday. I had another baby shower last Saturday! Whew! Like I said, Bundles of Babies! I have already given this particular friend some of my handmade baby items that you can see here a few years ago, so I didn't go overboard this time around.  Every baby is special and deserves some fun stuff. I did buy her a few fun new outfits, too. I just love baby girl clothes!

You can see a little snippet of the handmade card I made to go with her gift.  Last time I didn't have time for the card so it was a super quick last minute throw-together, so I decided to spend a little more time on it this time around.  I will link the details about that when I get that post ready on my other blog. Okay...you can check it out here. Also, over that last few years I have had quite a few emails and questions about the shoes I make. The pattern is from a local quilt shop and the patter…

Valentine's Pillowcase Dress

Welcome to day #8 of my "14 days of Valentines" series! I have been having a lot of fun working on all of these lovey projects!  I bought the fabric for this dress back in December and it has been sitting and waiting for me to give it some attention. Well...my husband took himself, Emma and 3 of the 4 boys for haircuts last night. Emma didn't get a cut, just there for backup! Believe me, with my crazy boys, it is NEEDED!  After they left I sat down and got to work on this pillowcase dress, I wanted Emma to be able to wear it to church today and she did. Pardon the slightly blurry pictures, I had to snap quickly so we could be on time for 9:00 church!  My husband wasn't amused that I was taking blog pictures before church!

All of the fabric is by Riley Blake, but they are all patterns from My Mind's Eye. I always get a thrill when my two loves come together. Now I need to get the paper so I can craft something up to match! LOL!  I was thrilled when I was pregna…

Be My Valentine fabric banner

Welcome! I am doing a "14 days of Valentines" series on my two blogs this month. I will be posting things randomly on both blogs. Today is project #2! If you would like to see yesterday's project, you can see it here  Remember that Valentine's Day fabric I referred to in my last post. I mentioned I wanted to make a table runner last year and didn't get around to it. Well...hopefully I have enough left over for the table runner because I quickly whipped this up on Friday. We were having dinner guests and I felt my front door needed something more, so I got to work making this.  The funny part is that it looked better here than on my front door.

I love making fabric banners almost as much as my paper ones.  I think when I have more time I will add a few more bells and whistles, but for my super quick project, I think it turned out cute.
The first thing you will need to do is figure out how long and how big you would like your banner. I knew that I would be usin…

Uniquely Handmade baby ensemble

It's always a good day when I get to work on a baby project. I was invited to a baby shower for one of the gals in my previous neighborhood and it couldn't have come at a better time. The holidays were ending but my desires to be crafty and creative were still in full force. It was seriously the best after Christmas therapy I could have asked for. My older kiddos were home from school so I could just work on things each day and not have to worry about what the little ones were up to.  There is something so relaxing and rejuvenating about the creative process.

I ALWAYS make rag quilts so I decided to switch things up and work on a traditional quilt instead. I fell in love with all of these gorgeous fabrics from Hobby Lobby. The quilt turned out so cute, I almost kept it for myself! Shhhhhh....don't tell anyone!

The fabric that I used for the backing is my most favorite...it is so bright and cheery! The quilting was all done on my sewing machine and I just went with a st…
